Blood on a carpet

My darling cat brought a rabbit in whilst I was out earlier. It bled rather heavily on the carpet. I've blotted up the blood and used Vanish foam on it, but there is still a dirty big stain. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of the stain, please?

Need to blot it straight away.
I'd blot the blood up then put either cold water or if that doesn't get it out I use tonic water. Failing that I put bleach in a bucket of water but not sure how that would react on the foam.

I'd try tonic water if you have any and press down on it as opposed to rubbing as that according to my mil breaks the pile and spreads the blood about.

Try biological washing liquid.
And I hope you put the rabbit in the pot rather than wasting it!
