Key jamed in door

hi, my yale key has snapped in the lock, anyone know how to remove it, Many thanks

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.The best thing to remove a broken key from a lock is a broken fret saw blade...the blade is fine, and the teeth are like barbs...just try to hook it out...
If the lock has been stiff and giving you trouble just wipe some vaseline across the latch and also on the keep in the frame....this will make it latch and release easier.
If you cant get it out just replace the cylinder....it takes five to ten minutes and they only cost about �7.00..

Glad you got there buckonetone...it's not too bad changing the cylinder, as long as you have gained access and the door is open.
Further to Dolly1308 question...most yale night latch style locks are easy to open from the outside if you know how.
Unless you have tools, you are really going to have go down the locksmith route.
I have some bump keys that will open nearly all yale cylinders without any damage....but saying that, I have had my door close behind me when I have gone out.
Without my tools it was only after fabricating something to open the door through the letter box, that I managed to get in again.
The old credit card is also a useful tool that often works, when you need to release a latch.
