tree stumps

i have 3 tree stumps that i need to get rid of. can anyone help. the stumps are quite big and i cant did them out, is there a way i can kill the off and to get rid of the stumps

We got rid of some by two methods -

1. Drill some holes and fill with diesel, eventually they will rot, and

2. Cover stump with salt and then cover the salt to stop it getting blown away.
