Kia Sedona - steering rack
I have a Kia Sedona (55 plate - Oct 05) which has done less than 25K from new. I have had it almost 3 years, and changed fron tyres in March last year, at 16000. I thought that was a bit early, and the tyres were worn on the inside. Today, less than 9000 miles later, another set of tyres, with the inner edges worn smooth, in fact down to the canvas in places. The guy at Bathwick Tyres reckons that there is a problem with the steering rack, and that its a known problem with Kia's and seemed surprised that I had not received a recall to get it changed. I onder - has anyone else heard of this? It does appear that a rubber boot on the neatr side is damp, and the off side isdry - possibly confirming the problem? I got a quote from a local garage to replace the full rack at 467.00 - expensive, but does this seem a reasonable figure?

ther is an AA website where you can check outstanding recalls , or better still contact the dealers you may get a new rack for free, as for the price it sounds fair if that is definatly the problem
hope this helps

Thanx for the infor ref AA. Turns out the particular problem has not been subject of a recall, so I can only get the garage o diagnose the problem properly and then get it repaired. For everybodys info, the AA gave me the following website owned by VOSA to check for any vehicle for recall. The site is: http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/defau lt.asp?tx=VOSA
