I'd like to ask a question about whether anybody has heard of a company and whether it is reputable.  In view of the comments on advantage loans, is this allowed?

I did a google search but it does not tell me what I want to know which is whether someone has heard of or used this company and whether it is reputable. It is, in fact, an on line directory of tradesmen which it claims are vetted and monitored.  I'd like to know if they really are vetted or monitored - or whether anyone can get on to the directory upon payment of a subscription fee.  I take it it is alright to post :  it is called checkatrade.com.  Anyone heard of it?  Thank you.

Nope never heard of them.

If you are checking out tradesmen, better off using an industry-recognised organisation like the Federation of Master Builders.

Being from Australia, I am not sure on your authorities, but over here we have the AUstralian Securities and Investiment Commission.... this sort of thing should be able to give you info about who registered the company..... Hopefully this helps point you in A direction...

Checkatrade is a licensed sheme operator for the Government Trustmark, aand unlike all the UK federations advertises on numerous radio stations and last year did four campaigns on ITV. Checkatrade also drops 3 and a half million guides every year so the consumer actually knows about them.

My husband is a member (Sussex Garage Doors) and Checkatrade is absolutely brilliant for his business and yes his monitering cards are regularly checked.
