Does anyone have a Quooker tap?

I am thinking about buying one.

I considered it, but changed my mind. It wasn't the cost that put me off, minimum �750 but the fact this boiling water is kept in a tank for maybe hours. It doesn't make nice hot drinks, which need freshly boiled water.
It reckons to cost 3p a day on standby, that's without using any water.

My friend has one - she used to use it to steralise her daughter's feeding bottles and cups.

Do you have a need for so much boiling water?

no i dont have one,
i dont see the need to have boiling water of 100�C and at such a high price i`d rather use the kettle.

On what basis does she regard it as 'brilliant'? In other words, what are its benefits, as distinct from its features?
I regard it as a solution without a problem to solve, though can see the point of what cath's friend uses it for.

Morning all!

Buildersmate, she regards it as brilliant as she used to have the kettle on the go all day - lots of visitors to her house and she was forever brewing up. It's much quicker and easier now.

You can of course also use it for various other purposes too (have you looked at the website?)

Personally, I quite like the sterilisation angle of it. I feed many birds and hedgehogs, have lots of feeder pots which I sterilise every day, and this tap would be convenient for that.

My sis also reckons the tap is more economical than boiling a kettle.

I think it's a fairly new thing in the UK - I hadn't heard of it until a few weeks ago, although they have apparently been around for a long time.

I have a steam iron press which requires descaled water. Sis reckons I can use the Quooker tap water for this - also for my steam mop (yes, I am a gadget fan!) which uses quite a lot of water as I have a very large floor area to clean.

Whether I would save any cash - I don't know (you can buy a lot of descaled water for �650!) but I must admit, I am drawn to anything that makes life's chores a little easier.

It's safe to say I think mrs.chappie works for Quooker. "She" asks does anyone have one because she's thinking about buying one, but then mentions her sister bought one, followed by a list of everything that's great about it and a hint to check out their website.

So, so far in my research of this product I've discovered that 1. It turns out through independent testing carried out that they lied about the energy costs for the tap. 2. They lied that the tap won't burn/hurt you if you out your hand under it, because of the magic bubbles they designed. And 3. The are posting to websites like this pretending to ask questions about the tap, but really are evangelising for it.

Whatever about the product itself, I don't trust the company. No, Sir.

Hi Irelandjnr (if you're still around) and anyone else who might be reading this.

I did end up buying one, but left it when I moved house. The buyer insisted I leave it as part of the house sale.

OH wants us to get one for our current house but I am wary because I saw the amount of limescale that came out of my sis's tap. It was horrendous! Something definitely wrong, IMO. Other than that, she still loves the tap.

PS: I don't work for Quooker. No Sireee. :o)
