Hi all, we have just returned from our holidays to find, a neighbours tree/bush inches from our back door has a large amount of wasps hovering around in the branches. I am unable to say what the tree is. The tree does seem to be infected by rings of black insect eggs / aphids?

Does anyone have any idea? Do you think there could be a wasp nest close by?

Any help / comments would be greatly appreciated

I would suspect the wasps are after the aphid poo which is high in sugar. Treat the bush for aphids and you may find the wasps go away.
Are you absolutely sure they're wasps & not hoverflies? They can appear very similar & there are lots of them about this year, they're harmless & very good for the garden as their larvae eat aphids...and there are masses of those!
If you're sure they're wasps then yes, there's probably a nest in there which might take a bit of spotting, they're usually well camouflaged.

Half way down there are wasp-like hoverflies here...
