I split from my partner 18mths ago and we shared a house..we had the house valued and we split the profit & i came away with �10,000 my ex partner bought me out and remortgaged the house, however a friend of mine told me that if my name is still on the deeds im still entitled to monies if my ex was to sell the house...is this true even though he paid me out! I would be very grateful for your advice. thankyou
No, I am quite certain that if he has paid you out, you have no further claim. Your ex will be able to rectify the register if he has not done so already.
thankyou for your prompt reply....i dont actually want anything else from my ex...i just wanted to prove that my friend didnt have the right info...i am very happy with the pay out i got from the property
Just to lclarify the issue - when your ex remortgaged the property, she would have done this in her sole name. In effect, the property , which was held in trust by the both of you, for the both of you, is then conveyed to your partner. As such, it is her name solely that will be shown on the deeds.
