Hi, I need to remove the top of my Hotpoint WD440 to investigate why the top buttons have stuck. Could anyone please tell me whether to slide the top backwards or forwards having removed the two screws at the rear of the top>?

would agree with docspock. Any machine I've opened with the screws at the back has the retaining clips at the front. therefore the lid slides towards you for removing.

Thanks guys for your trouble to reply. I found it was backwards actually and because it was held in clips it had to have a firm tap to budge it. Cheers.
