Buy some Borax powder from a chemist and mix a teaspoonful or more with equal quantities of sugar and spread along where you believe the ants are running. There a pain I know, but as soon as you spot one kill it, cos im sure that a few come in and if they think its safe they go and tell the rest of the nest...sounds crazy but true!!! Always clean up food spills, any grains of sugar and try and work out where they are coming in and keep putting ant killer or even fly spray on the entrance

Are these very small, brown , ants? If so, they are 'Pharaoh ants'. Your best hope is to trace where they are coming from, to find the nest and kill all the ants there with insecticide spray. The nest is quite likely to be in your home somewhere. They are a foreign species, imported by accident, and can only live in warm conditions. We found 'our' nest in the drawing room ! It was in the casing for the central heating pipes.
