slug invasion in the house
4 Answers
I'm living in a very old house (once a pub) and the cellar is actually built under the garden. This is used as a utility room and the dogs sleep there as well. We are being invaded by tiny black slugs which get everywhere at night. I think they are probably living in the cellar walls and there's not much we can do about that. How do I kill them without leaving revolting melted messes (from Slug Death) and without putting down anything which will harm the dogs? Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

It was so disgusting to find trails from the most enormous slugs that were sliding around in there. They were getting in through the tumble dryer grid, then homing themselves under the utilities. I placed a handful of slug pellets under & behind the tumble dryer & freezer which did the trick - stone dead! We don't have any pets left now (exept fish in the pond), but do have small Grandchildren - hence carefully placing them out of the reach of little hands. Good luck.
Food grade diatomaceous earth would work, but it MUST be the food grade. Be sure and wear a mask when handling it and not have the dogs in there when you put it down. I would put it around the edges of the room and anywhere you think they might be coming in.
