Serious question as this is part of a family project on the subject of Christmas - We all know the history of Santa and the myths and stories surrounding the character but we still choose to believe or not believe in the spirit of Santa or the character himself. What evidence do you use in your family to justify the existence (or non existence) of Santa Clause? eg in our family we always turn to the recordings from Norad which prove with a visual 'sighting' of Santa and his sleigh on Christmas eve as 'definitive proof'.

Santa Claus( no e) exists in the hearts and minds of every child.

Other than that, no he doesn't.
he does!
Yeah, Bob Dylan has just released a new album all of Christmas songs. Santa is on two of them! That's good enough for me!
If, as is said by some, Santa Claus exists why does it cost me a fortune every Christmas for my children and grandchildren? I certainly don't send him any money!
It's because of people like you dodger that he has enough for the rest of us so thank you
if he doesn't exist, who the hang comes down my chimney once a year? :D
I suppose you all think Gordon Brown is doing a good job too.

Thanks Starmac for answering the question, does anyone else have a contribution?
I use norad as well. Although as far as my kids are concerned, santa must exist because their parents are too mean to spend all that money on them and how else would the toys get made if the elves didn't do it. He also sends them a letter every year.
It's not even halloween yet for xmas sake.
reported - trouble making thread that has no place on AB!!! i shall strongly recommend that Santa himself pays ainitatyb a personal visit this year and puts them straight tut
Chis crindle was a saint so was St Stephen various countries have other St who used to give gifts of money and such like to the poor - for instance Boxing day ( which is St Stephens day - by the way ) is the day traditionally the church would open their collection boxes and distibute the collection amongst the poor - originally called boxes day - now somewhere and somehow these traditions around Christs birthday have become mixed up - someone called St Claus or santa claus was another of these good givers. Coca cola first gave Santa Claus or the Father of Christmas a red coat and a beard for their adverts . It is the spirit of Christmas that we all sign up to - So yes father christmas does exist - just like Mickey Mouse - Walt Disney made him up and every child visiting Disney world can physically touch him - so he IS real too - Just believe otherwise what hope has this life - Merry Christmas to all

Thanks for your answer LyndyLou but just to correct one thig, Like yourself, and for many years I believed the Coca Cola story, but I recently discovered it was a misnomer. I refer you to http://www.snopes.com...as/santa/cocacola.asp which is one of many sites which have the full history for the development of the modern day Santa. I also agree with you that it is the spirit of Christmas which make Santa real.
