Just to add to that, i also think that a lot of the problems with smells in washers and bathrooms or any sinks in the kitchen is due to the lack of cleaning, no disrespect to you or anyone else, we tend to forget the amount of dirty water that enters our waste pipes and without runing hot water down them along with lets say soda on a monthly basis you will get a waste pipe smell, most of us today have showers so by the time the water is going down the plug hole it is cold and the stale soap sticks inside the wast pipe, the same with washers,( sorry i went on so long)
i wipe the rubber seal after using my machine so you dont have a build up of mould and slime i also pour caustic soda down the waste pipes once a week it stops all smells maybe i`m just a bit ocd,
I've noticed my new machine smells a lot more than my old one ever did - but I wash at a lower temp in this machine. I don't think it's hot enough to kill all the bacteria but we keep being told to wash at 30 so we can save the planet!
sometimes its not the machine thats smelly it the hose connection from machine to sink dirty water from the kitchen sink gets trapped in the machine pipe try unscrewing it and cleaning it out
My daughter had same problem. Even had all the drains cleared out, still smelly. It was only when I asked her if she took the filter out once a month to clean it out, she said "what filter?". I showed her the little door on the front of the machine at the bottom, which when I removed the filter was totally clogged up and smelly.Problem then solved completely. She now knows and does it on a regular basis.
think you will all find to keep your machine in (unsmelly) working order
the info will be in the machines manual, does nobody read these ??
The answer is to run your machine empty at maximum heat to kill the bacteria. Ours runs at 95deg.
I usually add Soda Crystals to my washing powder - this cleans through the machine also gets the stains out of the washing.

I also clean the soap/fabric conditioner drawer regularly - its surprising how much this smells with the build up of scrum.
