Dye pens - do they work?

Some friends and I were thinking of getting people to sign a white tablecloth for a friend's wedding. Can anyone suggest the best way of going about this? Can anyone recommend a reliable dye pen? I assume people could sign their names, then we'd need to iron or fix the dye some way for posterity!!

There are lots of craft dyes out there, but which is the best I wonder?

There are marker pens for putting names on clothes and so on, these do not wsh out and should be OK. You can get them with a fairly fine point as well so fine for writong with. No idea of price tho now , but WhSmiths will have them or a shop which sells stationery items ,files paper etc. Good luck.

or just use a sharpie. I presume she is not going to be using the tablecloth, and will nt therefore need to wash it

Think great idea - we had same for our wedding but napkin autographed. I would suggest supplying gift wrapped in tissue paper too to prevent cloth going yellow if put away for a while.

I have a small hall table which we keep the phone on and because I'm into embroidery I wrote every body's phone no/ on it then embroidered over it all in different colours; ie; daughter green, son blue, doc, take-away, & so on, its a conversation piece and no/s are at hand.
I seem to remember too a celebrity has a large table cloth and has it with them all the time to get other celebrities to sign it & then she embroiders over their autograph, it will keep forever. Soo d'ya know anyone handy with a needle??
