Gas cooker connection
4 Answers
I've just ordered my first gas cooker and it says on the website that the ignition is worked via mains electric. Does this mean it will have an electric cable with plug on (which can just be plugged into a standard wall socket) or will it need connecting up to the electric cooker switch? If the later, is this something the gas fitter would nornally deal with or will I need to book an electrician as well? Thanks.

It`s just a simple push and twist, and test with a drop of washing up liquid around the joint to check for any bubbles from a leak.
Ruth some gas fitters are part P (electrically qualified)so can self Cert + vis-a-vis for cookers or plumbing in a shower for example.
It's just a simple push and twist " try telling your insurance that if things go wrong, and they want to see the paper work, that's if it hasn't burnt in the explosion, Carlton.
What your really saying is that you kept the bayonet rubber connection tube then PTFE taped the male threaded end and put it into the cooker female fitting.
This is a gas safe qualified fitters job with a Cert to follow, some store outlets have such fitters they are qualified to deal with electrical connections also.
