removing raw plugs

have inherited several red raw plugs in white walls. think it's just plaster walls - not a high standard of diy anywhere in the house. is there a way to get these out? they have obviously been hammered in - if I can get them out then I can fill them and just paint over - can't I??????? any help appreciated

Try screwing a screw in half way and gripping with pliers etc and pulling.

Screw a screw a little into the plug then pull the screw out with pliers or vice grips. Depending on the wall they may come out clean but unfortunately plaster will most likely come off the wall. Just get a quick filler and smooth off over the remaining holes.

If its dry lined ,just knock them inwards with same size screw head, less damage to plaster board.

You may have a job filling a deep hole with plaster if the entire plug is removed. I'd be inclined to just drill out the top 1/4" of the plug and then fill the shallow hole with plaster.

And sorry, dry lined means that the plaster board is stuck too the bricks with spots of plaster/ morter so there will be a 1 to 2 inch void for the plug to drop down into out of harms way

Dont try to fill the holes in one go - leave it slightly recessed the first time then re-apply another coat.
