Receipts for heating and plumbing materials
Hello, Just had a major plumbing and heating job done. New oil tank/ boiler fitted, new radiators etc. Whole job came to around £10K with labour and materials. No real problem with that. Got an invoice from the plumber but he won't give me copies of the receipts for the big items, i.e. the tank, boiler, huge radiators, stats etc. These were delivered direct to the house so no additional work involved. I don't understand why I cannot get copies of the receipts, am I being paranoid about reasons? Is this normal?
Thanks in advance

The breakdown of parts and labour was clear beforehand and I have no problem with the costs of either the labour or the parts, in fact everything is paid for. I just don't understand why the plumber refuses to let me have copies of receipts for the large items that I paid for. Would be useful for warranties and guarantees and I guess if I am honest I just don't understand why I should not able to have copies.
Since you have the invoice for the supply and installation service, that will be the date that it is regarded as having been installed. You also have all the manuals and other paperwork supplied with the equipment - these typically require the return of a card or registration online to establish the 'start' date for warranty purposes.
Agree with Mr Wonker's suggestions as to why he won't supply you with the invoices.

did the installer design your system? if so you have paid for the design ,supply and installation of a heating system and those receipts are a matter for the plumber and his suppliers.his suppliers, not yours.
what matters for you is the registration of the boiler with gassafe or oftec as an oil tank is involved and also that your boiler benchmark book is filled in. these are the things that matter in regard to warrenties.
the most important thing of the lot is, was the system flushed and cleaned? before another drain down and then refilled with inhibitor, because these will concern your boiler reliability and i can assure you that if you have a warranty problem that involves a visit from an engineer sent or employed by the manufacturer he/she will will be able to confirm system cleanliness, by chemical testing, and may use that test result to charge you for repairs that you thought were covered by them
