High Pressure Jet Cleaners

Has anyone had good or bad things happen when useing a home jetwash on cars?? also can they recomend the best detergent to use... Thanks in advance

i bought a karcher to tidy up the drive and for the car.it was good for the drive and the slabs but unless you use the patio cleaner attachment it made quite a mess and this had to be cleaned up.
as for the car it was not very impressive and the soap attachment was very fiddly.i have,nt bothered cleaning the car with it since and would,nt recommend buying one, because they simply don,t compare well to commercial units. save your money for visits to the car wash or pay your local car wash guys that have sprouted up all over the place

I took the paint off the (repainted) wheels of a Land Rover while using one once. And you have to be careful not to direct the jet towards the ground, as it can blast the bodywork with any stones or gravel lying around and this will chip your paintwork.

I've used a karcher on the drive, patio and car for some years and I've had no problems, since I finished the detergent that came with the unit I've just used B & Q's own brand. It's also very usefull if you have a cat problem turn to a needle jet and give the cat a blast, a nice non-lethal deterent.

Like others, my experience is that it is good for drives but useless for cars. Bucket sponge and a hose are the best.

I have used mine on the car engine with very good results. I made sure to cover all electical parts first tho. Used Gumption first.

My OH has used one, no problems at all even on the car and landrover.

Thanks again for your comments. I also found that my karcher was great on the patio(I have the round attachment and it is worth getting) But found that the car was still a bit grubby round the skirting..Thought about getting S W M be O to do it for me..
