We have had a potted rhododendron on the patio for 15yrs, this winter however it appears to have died (suspect frost damage), is it likely to "come again"?

Rhodos often seem near immortal. To check for signs of life, cut a stem neat the main. If there is green inside the chances are good that it will come again, so just keep the soil on the moist side of dry and wait. If not then it has probably had its chips. The problem with pots is that the roots can freeze, and this can be fatal. Try lagging the pots with straw matting next year.
