I have heard that non bio washing powder gives good results when cleaning stone patios,
Can anyone confirm?

OH just Karchers the hell out of ours - seems to do the trick!
not very environmentally friendly but if you are going in for chemical warfare 1 cup cheap bio detergent and 1 cup bleach in bucket of hot water spread generously with a wateringcan, leave for 30 mins, scrub with stiff garden broom and rinse off. bit of a work out ...but used to bring our slabs up pretty well. Kills all the plants round the edge though
A stiff brush,bleach and a hell of a lot of elbow grease.Tried most other things,cola,washing powder,even the proper patio cleaner(which stank like rank eggs)but found a good scrub and then a pressure wash was the only thing that worked for me
