Wonky toilet seat
25 Answers
Our toilet seat is so wonky it's becoming a fearful exercise to stay on the damn thing!
The wobble seems to be located in the metal bar that connects the seat and lid.
I have tiightened up the wingnuts that secure the seat to the bowl, so it's not that.
Is there a repair - or is it time to replace?

I would say that if you cant cure the problem with tightening up wingnuts, and still wobbly than it sounds like something has perished inside the metal bar area you described.
If you know who the supplier/make of the suite is and a local bathroom supplier that stocks parts and caries out repairs, you could call them for a quote on repair and if at all possible, before you decide to change the whole lot.......personally if a lot of aggro, i would change it and treat your tush to a brand new experience!.....lol
Good luck, mate :0)

Andy I get asked to fit around 3-4 toilet seats a month ...I always use the same one as it never gives any problems...it comes from Wickes.
It has stainless fittings and really strong lock nuts...and as a belt and braces approach, before I insert the steel bolts through the pan I wind gaffer tape around the top of the bolts. This takes up the play and centralises the bolts....they never come loose, and more importantly.... the seat wont wobble..!

I tried to replace the whole seat but still had the problem of the shifting toilet seat. Got a cheap kit from http://toilidfix.co.uk and fitted it in a couple of minutes - done the trick fine.
