Hi, I strongly suspect my shed has been invaded by wasps, everytime I enter theres one or two in. I have searched for the nest but I can't find one?! Is there such a thing as Wasp Repellant so I can stop them from going into my shed before they build a nest?
Thanks.
Wasps often nest underground,if you have a floor in it I doubt they will nest in it.Are you sure they are wasps, there are that many types of bees that some people mistake certain types of bees for wasps. If unsure spray insect killer in it then close door and windows for 10 minutes.
Trudy - last summer, I went into my shed to get the deck chairs out and was met with an angry wasp flying about, when I picked the cushion up that fits onto the deck chair, I noticed on one of the buttons, the wasp had started to make a cone shape nest - I sprayed and cleaned the cushion.
I would spray the shed, a regular fly spray will do, shut the door and when its safe, have a good look around to see if you can spot the starting of a nest.
Same thing happened in my shed last year DEN53, except i found a round white ball hanging from my shed roof. I knocked it off and found a rather angry queen wasp inside, obviously i disturbed her while making her queens chamber where she would start breeding tens and thousands of the damn critters.
god you were brave Garmard knocking that. Mind you it is quite clever how they make those round nests. The one on my cushion looked the colour of wood shavings.
I was a pest controller for 13 years, wasp & Bees nests are so easy to find, think of a bee line, just stand nearby and watch you will see them come and go very soon, and nearly always flying the same path "a bee line" be very careful how you do it, my advice would be to call in pest control, you could get badly stung! This time of year the nests are fairly small so is a good time to eradicate them.
