My late Nan always maintained that we are descendants of the Spanish sailors from The Armada who were ship wrecked off the coast of Scotland. I used to think this was a load of rubbish, until I saw a programme about The Spanish Armada and found out that there were survivors who made their home in Scotland. (I also know I have Scottish descendants) How on earth would I go about finding out?
We all have black hair and tan easily by the way and I actually married a half-Spaniard. When we were in Spain nobody suspected that I may be British.

Join the clan -I have been told that we descended on my Dads side from the Spanish Armada landing in Eire.Think there may be a smidgeon of truth in it as my grandfather was called Michael Thomas Carlos Duffy. My father his brother and especially his sister could all be taken for Spaniards as was my Grandad.
Mum has got as far as she could with the family tree but it hasnt half branched out with surnames being changed (?) so the traill went cold at Rosscommon. It just so happens to be the most intruiging side of my family as well !
I got my Dad;s side back to Roscommon and never did bother to go any further, but that was 1430 and so a bit before the Armada.
Its amazing how often Roscommon is mentioned in Geneology isnt it.What amazes me is that when I visited a couple years back it was a small town.
Was there a historical reason for this Dot?
Thanks for link BTW -interesting info.
