Iv asked a similar question before (thank you buildersmate). We are now thinking of replacing the garage door with a french door instead of the Cavity Wall Insulation.(original question) My question is, will this de-value our house because obviously it wont be classed as a garage anymore. We are doing this because it is an integral garage and in the winter it is freezing. Hope this makes sense
Much depends on whether you still have an off-road parking space, either to the side of the existing house, or in front of the proposed closed-off door. Buyers value off-road parking.
Think also about the extent of parking restrictions (if any) outside your house - how easy would it be to park there if the existing garage was eliminated.
If in doubt, ask a local estate agent, perhaps.
Hi buildersmate
Yes there is parking space in front of the garage door on the drive and we also have parking at the front of the house. We may go for the french door then, at least it will be warmer in the winter and i wont have a draught round my ankles when im sitting on the loo!!!!!!!!!!!. Ta lots x
