help phone bill

i have just received my phone bill from bt and it has 38.00 extra on from international calls made to a place called tuvalu where is this place and why is it on my bill the times are for only a few seconds on some and another about 1 minute i dont know anyone from another country i cant get through to bt but am still trying how has it got on my bill?

Are you connected to the internet?  It is probably one of those scams that connects you to either a premium rate number or a overseas number and charges you through the roof.  You will have to pay it this time but to avoid it in future, BT offer a service which blocks overseas numbers being dialled from your phone.

 

Obviously if you want to ring overseas, you can temporarily remove this block

No help I appreciate, but Tuvalu is a small island in the south pacific.

The latest variant of the premium rate dialler scams use islands such as Tuvalu as they are harder to legislate against in this country. You need to runa spyware remover such as adaware or the new one from Microsoft to remove the malicious code from your system or it may well keep trying.

The other possibility is that they are phone porn numbers, any young males in the house? I say this because rogue diallers normally rack up much bigger bills.
