fly swats or spray?

May I have your opinion on the best way to deal with flies please. I used to have one of those zappers, but I wasnt a very good shot!! Your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated thank you.

Sprays are ok but not very environmentally friendly, they also kill bees which is not good.

Fly screens on your doors and windows is far more effective than both of the above methods, just a little more pricey, OK a lot more pricey!!

Rolled up newspaper. Try not to use it when they're on light coloured walls.

I've got sticky disks I put on the windows - pretty gross when loaded with flies but it seems to work. Either that, or the cats catch them for a snack.

I spray them with Dettox antbacterial cleaner. it doesnt kill them but they cant fly or walk properly, them im able to just pick them up with a tissue and dispose

I try to wave them out of windows where possible, or use a swat, the fumes from the fly spray are awful!

As long as your home it kept very clean and no food left lying about you won`t get many flies or bluebottles, they may come in but if they cant find food they`ll beat it.

or the new swatters that electrocute flies are fun and very satisfying to use... flipflops are good in our house you may hear the little phrase.... hello little fly...I have a surprise for you followed by SPLAT!!!!

one of lifes mysterys, you get 1-3 flies,zap or spray them another 1-3 appear, if you do nothing they seem to stay at 1-3, so why dont you get 100s if you do nothing?

This observation is based on a fairly normal reasonably clean house, not a tip...

Flies take off in a BACKWARDS direction, at an angle of 60 degrees. Bear this in mind and you won't go far wrong. And, seriously, the best weapon is an oven glove. I have perfected the art, and am disappointed if I ever miss.

hahahahaha I loved all your answers. My house is clean,and all food is always covered and in fridge. but I live next to a sewage works unfortunately, so we seem to get more. My border collie likes to chase the buzzers, but I try not to encourage it in case she chases a bee! I think I will STICK with the fly papers. Thanks again so much, your comments made me smile.

I HAVE A FLY SWAT WITH BATTERIES-- EXCELLENT. they are in the local Wilkinson's store for about £4.This gadget will kill small flies but only stuns blue bottles!
