Install an Aga where an Esse has been??
4 Answers
I have an Esse cooker/stove and wish to change it for an Aga. Is this a relatively easy process or a nightmare to do? Kitchen is fitted so I have cupboards right up to stove & have granite worktops.

You "can" build in an Aga .. into a space. They are like a large kit around a steel case. Very heavy when assembled. Preferably should be built onto a brick thickness plinth. Flues are easy on them.
Fuel piping/ regulator connection will probably come in on LHS of lower front, so be mindful of that. You will need a sheet of fibreboard against that side cupboard,...

Most projects are possible - it depends how much money you are willing to throw at it. Changing such a heavy and relatively permanent feature in a fitted kitchen where the fitting runs right up to the existing cooker is going to be problem - simply getting the old one out and the new one in is going to be a challenge - even assuming Aga do a model that is the identical width to the existing.
Then you've got the flue to be sorted out - assuming you are talking oil/gas fired.
Still if you have the money for an Aga purchase, it's perhaps not an issue.
For a accurate quote, you are going to have to ask an Aga specialist installer.

adding to what BM has said ............ it sounds like the kitchen was built "to" the Esse therefore a snug fit. Agas are built "in situ" ............ the guy would need some room around the Aga to build it......... and subsequently service it. As BM says, you must get Aga advice............... no big deal really to remove a worktop and a unit or two, then re-fix after modifying.
