Barbecue in front garden
22 Answers
What is your opinion on barbecues being held in the front garden? Does anyone think it is ill advisable on safety concerns?
I have watched my new neighbours put a barbecue right by their front hedge, which not only is a fire hazard as the hedge connects many gardens and shrubbery, including mine, but also it's inches from a public throroughfare where people pass by.
The barbecue is over now but should I voice my concerns to these neighbours if they try this again?

Well, there wasn't a problem this time, so how can you complain? they must have been behaving in a responsible manner! You can only really complain if things do go wrong!........Live and let live, until a problem arises, is my opinion, who knows, you may get an invite next time, if you're friendly and neighbourly!.............
It might be worth mentioning your concerns regarding the proximity of the barbecue to the hedge (in a casual, pleasant manner) to your neighbour. However a properly looked after barbecue shouldn't present any great hazards to passers by in the street.
I live on a cul-de-sac for traffic, but (because there's a footpath at the end of the road) it is a through route for pedestrians. Every few weeks,at this time of the year, the families at the end of the road find an excuse for a party. It might be because one of their kids has a birthday, because one of the grown-ups has a birthday or simply because they feel like it. (Last week they just put up big 'Street Party' signs). When they do, they'll often have several gas-powered barbecues actually on the footpath, on the grass verge or on the road. There will often be several bouncy castles and a disco as well, with little kids running around until midnight and the adults carrying on the party until 1 or 2am. While it can be a bit noisy at times, I've never had any concerns over the safety of what they do.

nicci....have given it further thought.
I would ask you neighbours their thoughts on the subject and nobody else would support you, then I would do,as I said "bu99er all"
However, if people agreed with you then I would approach them and tell them that the neighbourhood considered their actions as "antisocial"............as I do.
