please, please help me!

I have a tiddly tiny bathroom, just a bath and basin (no room for a toilet) and I'm going for a complete gutting and re-start. currently the door just touches the 700mm wide bath when it's (almost) fully open. I'm trying to create an upper-end finish, and want a "wow" factor.

we don't bath, we only shower but I have to wash/colour my hair over a bath. I ordered this.. http://www.diamondbat..._Bath_1200_x_720.html but it turned up damaged so went back, and they're offering a replacement or refund.

thing is.. I sat in it and the top of the seat to the top of the bath measures 12cm! so it could never really be used as a bath (we don't bath!).. but I might change my mind in my old age ;o)

what would you do? get another standard (but nice) bath, or get another tiddly one just to increase the floor space?

I waffled, I'm sorry :o/

''we don't bath, we only shower''

Wet room?
Question Author
hello snags(h).

I can't wash my hair under a shower.. it's a bit of a phobia for me :o(
Hi sara, you don't give the full dimensions of the room, but personally if it was me I'd ditch the bath completely - you can still lean in the shower and wash your hair without being in it.

However, if this is your only bathroom, I can appreciate that you might want to retain a bath of some sort for when you sell, people with young kids like a bath available. What a bout a compromise for something like this:

Perfectly big enough to bath kids and wash your hair, but small enough to free up some space.

Depending on space, would a corner bath be a better option?
Oh, just saw the thing about the phobia - do you not like the water sprinkling on your head? or is it that you dont like it being wet down your back? used to not like the former when I was a kid, but okay with it now.

hi Annie and thanks :o)

the bathroom measures 1710 x 1340. a corner bath would stick out too far.

I did look at those little baths but can't decide if it would look ridiculous. my kids are teenagers and are taller than me (as everyone seems to be!), but they don't bath either. it's just me and my hair issues.. but I'm not sure I could do that crouching on the floor business to wash/colour my hair, especially as I get older.
sara(h). As I said. Wet room. And shave your head.
Quite a good selection here:

Wet room and wet-suit................simples !! ;o)
Question Author
and if I do the wet room thing now... I've already bought really expensive wall mounted bath taps :o/

Chuck, I don't think he'd dare!

so... do we think the little bath would look ridiculous?
Seriously, with those limited dimensions a wet room would make sense and utilise the space to best effect wouldn't it. You'd also have plenty of room to 'bend over' when washing your hair (presumably as you do now over the bath/basin) so it wouldn't end up on your body. (bloody women) ;-p
We are lucky enough to have 3 bath rooms (well, one bath room and 2 shower rooms) but they are all tiny and none of them in a place where you could knock through to make a bigger one. So we do keep the bath, but I have only ever used it once in the last 6 years, my husband maybe twice and even the kids now rarely bath, they prefer a shower. My kids have just turned 10 and 9 and already the eldest is complaining that the standard bath is too small - he is 5 foot tall, so I can see the bath being completely redundant soon. However as it is a family house and we will want to move at some point, then I guess we are stuck with the thing. Could you not get a nice shower and then that would free up space for a decent sized sink that you could wash your hair in?
can't you dpo it ove rthe kitchen sink?

I've already bought a really nice vanity unit with a basin.

I've also got a folding shower screen on order (paid for), and the v expensive bath filler.

3 bathrooms, Annie? I'm going to move in with you :o)
Question Author
I suppose I could, bednobs, it's just not what I'd hoped to do in my lovely new bathroom!
Sounds great sara until you have 4 toilets to clean! keep threatening to lock one of them up but to be fair, the main bathroom doesn't get used much - we have an ensuite and the kids have a jack and jill between their bedrooms. Does make it sound huge, but really it's not posh and you can't swing a cat anywhere. Only bought it cos it was the best we could find when we needed to move and the garden was flat and grassed which we needed for the kids. You are welcome to move in and you could help with the cleaning.
