Does anyone know how far back you can prune a hebe?
I failed to trim it for a couple of years & now thw branches are devoid of leaves from half way down. Will it leaf up again if I cut into bare wood?
I'd like to trim to almost ground level but not sure if it would rejuvenate or die!!
It''s a very small leaved variety. tahnking you in anticipation!!

got this off the web.........David Greene asks...
We have a very overgrown variegated hebe. Can I cut it back and if so when is the best time please?

Bill replies...
Your variegated Hebe can be cut back hard David and it will shoot and bush again. The time to do this is early springtime when the sap is beginning to rise and new shoots will appear through the summer months.
