Just spoke to my brother about insurance premiums as he's just renewed his insurance. He told me that he hasn't informed the insurance company of the 3 points on his license.

What would happen if he informed them now? Would they charge extra from now and back date the charge?

I am no expert but if you are not totally honest with them, they may not pay out if he needs them.
they may backdate the charge but if these are his only points and are for something like a minor speeding offence then the premium may not be much more at all anyway.

BUT, as said, they do have to be notified asap as they may refuse to honour any claims if he hasnt told them of the points
generally for one SP30 for example there is no extra charge, 2 together add a bit. Non disclosure just gives them a stick to beat you with should a claim arise. If he tells them now I doubt it would change the price of eggs unless it's a biggy, ie SP70, + ban , big fine etc. A standard fixed pen should make no difference.
