What adhesive can I use to repair a hinge on a toilet seat. The lid of the toilet is self-closing but one side has pulled away from the lid. The hinge bit is made up of some kind of metal that has a chrome finish. It has a "tongue" that protrudes and fits into a blind slot on the lid which is a hard white plastic substance.
When it first failed I used Araldite extra strong to repair it put it has failed again.

Suggestions please.

Toilet seat hinges just are'nt worth messing around with... buy a new seat.
Wickes do a decent soft close one for £33 at the moment.

The prices do go up and down though .. (not unlike the seats).. as they often have offers on.
Think I agree. If epoxy resin has failed, there's not much else that would do the job.
If the hinge tongue has pulled out of the blind slot after glueing with araldite, it is probably because the glue has not bonded the chrome finish. If this is the case you will have to abrade the shiny chrome finish to get a mechanical 'key' for the glue. Use coarse sandpaper or a file. If you can manage a few grooves at right angles to the line of 'pull' then even better. Use the araldite again and make sure that the socket is dry.
A repair will probably never be successful.
Replace the assy. : )

Nothing more to go on ... sorry : ))
Did you clean up the surfaces before applying the Araldite ?
If not, that's most likely to be the reason it .wonderfully fluffed up (sorry about the expletive - I'm conducting a test)
(ah, fail)
spose you could solder it as an emergency but since TS are cheap Y not replace it. Dont get those foam-warm-squashy style 'cause they make 'woopee' cushion noises when used.
