Does anyone know if it's more cost effective to have the central heating running most of the day at a low temperature or to keep switching it on and off as you need it?

what kind of boiler is it?

It's a Potterton Promax HE, bednobs
We keep ours on all the time but on a central thermostat, so it only clicks on if we need the heat in the rads. Our boiler runs the hot water too.
