Bubbles on ear drum?
8 Answers
I can finally hear again after having my ears syringed this morning after weeks of being half deaf. Aside from being quite annoyed that 3 pharmasists and a doctor all told me to use things that the nurse today said was probably making things worse, she told me she can see bubbles in my left eardrum. Her advice was to keep my ear dry for a week and if I continue to have problems to go back because I will need treatment but I don't really understand what she meant by bubbles and as I had been with her 40 minutes already I didn't want to keep her any longer. Can anyone shed any light?

She looked in my ear and referred me to GP. He prescribed an oral antibiotic and a wide spectrum antibiotic ear spray. Now Thursday morning and ear ache gone. Far as I'm concerned this was down to nurse and GP...don't think I would have got the same result by ignoring it.
I had grommets in my eardrums and one had come out and the drum healed. I wanted to do a swimming improvement course which would have involved putting my head under water. I went to see the nurse at work to see of the other grommet was still there because if it was, I would put an earplug in that ear. She said the grommet had gone and the drum healed. I went swimming. She was wrong, the grommet was still there and I had the worse otitis media I had ever had. I don`t have a lot of faith either
I had a long hard slog to try and get any help from a number of GPs with my ear problems despite a bit pointer (my mum has menieres and I have been getting similar symptoms).
One GP tested my hearing, said it was a bit low and would probably get worse and that was about it. Another one, when I asked for an ENT referral, was incredibly rude and actually quite nasty, telling me there was no way I had menieres. Not long after he got to see a dizzy espisode and couldn't get me on medication quick enough.
I got there in the end, quite a few years later via ENT, neurology (they thought I could have MS) then a specialist ear doctor (friend of neurologist). Result...menieres!
