I've recently had a combi boiler and new radiators replaced, but not the pipework as I was assured it would be fine. Unfortunately I have just bled one of the radiators and a certain amount of water escaped and it was black! Will this harm the new boiler? Many thanks.

The best thing I can think of Queenio is .......... now that the water in the system is hot, turn off the heating and completely drain and refill the system .
Most of the gunge would have been in the old rads. What's in the pipework shouldn't be that much, but it would be a good idea to get rid of it anyway. I just wish your plumber had done the same :o(
the sludge that is left in the system will not do your new boiler any favours, a suggestion would be to fit a magna clean which will take out most of the iron filings and is there to stop it getting into your boiler.
