How do the flash erase blocks work

Hope you know what I am talking about.

I am amazed at what they can do but can't understand how.

I have tried in vain to remove little marks in our bath and failed with every cleaner on the market but one rub with these things and completly gone. They are amazing and have removed most of the annoying little marks and stains in our house. In fact I am desperate to find a few more marks to move as they are so good and I am hooked. (perhaps I need to get out more)
