My dippy daughter washed her boyfriend's oily mechanics uniform with a load of my grandsons clothing, and now the whole lot, not surpisingly, stinks of oil.

She's admitted defeat and passed them all to me (oh gee ta!). I've pre washed the lot, on a 90 degree wash, twice, but they still stink.

Any ideas? Apart from throttling her?

Thanks :-)

Add a cup of white vinegar to your wash instead of fabric softener. Give the clothes an extra rinse so they don't smell of vinegar.
Soak them in soda crystals.

Ta Nazzy, will try that.

There in the dryer at the moment, i somehow thought the smell would lessen some whilst in there (don't try to understand my logic!) but oddly enough, it hasn't, lol.

So they'e going back in the washer again very soon.

I could kill her!

haven't got any of those ummmm, could grab some tomorrow if Nazzy's suggestion doesn't work.

Cheers :-)
Failing that stick some TCP in with them. Boy does that manage to linger...

Or possibly Deep Heat?

I've been stinking of that stuff since Boxing day.

Cracking idea!
Yeah...mini mini BOO can go round smelling of my Nan :-)
I hope the smell wont linger in your drier and spread to other things you put in there!

Hiya busy bee, yes im hoping that too!

I'm in the middle of once again washing my grandsons clothes (3rd time now) but with vinegar in the softener compartment.
Just an idea but after this wash load is finished let the machine fill up and add a couple cups of bleach or Clorox and let it run a bit to get rid of any oil reside that might be lingering.
residue ^^^
Hi BOO - I'm probably too late in to help, but apparently Baking Soda is good for removing odours, including petrol & oil.

I looked up baking soda & found this:

Hope it helps. ♥
