Shade for old table lamp
I have a lovely old table lamp but unfortunately the shade is now so thin and waxy I have managed to put a hole in it. Unlike all my other lamp shades it does not sit on with the little ring srewed down to hold it on. It has a longish bit at each side which screw into bits coming up but these bits cannot be removed as they are attached to a little knob which turns the lamp on and off. Sorry I haven't explained this too well but basically new shades will not go on to this lamp. Does anyone know where I could either buy a shade to fit this sort of a lamp or anywhere I could get the present shade recovered?

How about the ones that just clip onto the bulb?
Obviously this depends on the bulb type.

This company offers a recovering service... http://www.shadesofelegance.com/
Haven't seen those but will have a look. Have had a reply from http://www.shadesofelegance.com/ but seem very expensive.
I'm not surprise that site was expensive. Old lampshades are a specialist craft-so they can charge a good bit.
