1. work out which is the cold water supply (red is hot and cold is blue)
2. turn the stopcock on the cold water supply from running horizontal to the pipe to perpendicular - beware a few dribbles if near electricity!
3. Unscrew the hose from the clothes washer where it connects to the cold water supply and then tightly screw the y piece in and the appliance hoses into each socket. Use rubber gloves.
Outlet hose can go into sink if nearby
Try zanussi for a dishwasher - best all rounder - check pricerunner for costs but avoid Comet at all costs (long story). BE electrical online were brilliant.
Pimlico Plumbers visited but were hopeless. 88 for him to drill a (messily made) hole in benchtop then dropped and scratched new d/washer which he wouldn't note on invoice. Try local handyman if want DIY job and not copper pipes.
Permanent plumbing is costly for those renting but take care and check y piece every 4 months - they wear out apparantly.
NB to save if getting permament plumbing then locate the water tap before plumber arrives
Hope this saves everyone a bit of time and money and the frustration of dealing with Comet or Pimlico Plumbers
