Controlling chickens
11 Answers
My garden was almost destroyed last year by my chickens. I am thinking about fencing in the veg and flower garden this year. Does anyone know how tall I should buy the mesh fencing? Thanks

Re burying the fence to prevent burrowing. I have heard that if you lay the mesh flat at the bottom for about 300mm outwards and peg it down this will stop burrowing animals. Apparently foxes aren't clever enough to back away from the bottom of the fence and always try to burrow through there. The mesh on the ground prevents this.

Don't you ever believe foxes will only attack during the hours of darkness.
I lost 2 dozen once during broad daylight, when a rogue fox got into a walled orchard.
The only survivor was the cockerel who managed to escape by seeking refuge in an apple tree.
Not a single hen survived, the fox simply killed the lot and left.
