Cut Glass Decanter cleaning

How can clean the inside of a cut glass decanter which has gone cloudy with washing.

I cleaned one quite successfully using a couple of denture tablets in warm water. In saying this, another one we had failed to clean up & presumed it was because it was quite old & past its best

I think that identifying whether this is glass or crystal is important.
OP states glass but may not be certain. Also states that it is clouded on inside. If it is crystal it seems likely that it would be cloudy on outside as well, especially if it has been in dishwasher. If it is crystal then heavy mechanical methods will probably make it worse.
