Descaling an anti-scale iron
3 Answers
My latest iron is supposed to be anti-scale but have been having problems with lack of steam and is showing all the signs of needing descaling even though i have regularly followed the self clean instructions. The manual says if you do use descaling solutions it will damage the iron. Would using vinegar and water be any different or has anyone got any other suggestions i could try? Thanks in advance

It smelt like burnt food every time I used it, and however much I washed it out, it leaked brown onto my white clothes. I had to buy a new iron. So if you want to try vinegar, use White Distilled which I use on the taps. I can't see how proper Iron Descalers can damage an iron .. that might be a better option in case you are worried about smelling like a fish n chip shop !
