Post Office Compensation Claim
Last Nov. 2010 I claimed £35 for a lost Rec. Del. from the Post Office. They followed up with a request for proof of value of contents which I sent in Jan. (The contents were covered - I acertained that). Since then no reply to any customer service messages quoting their ref. no. Now then... If I just lodge a small claim for the amount and hope that in their usual inefficiency they ignore that too - will I get judgement by default. it would teach them a lesson - but can I do that?

Yes you would get judgement if they don't respond or attend. You will hen have to enforce it.

I've claimed, davypops, for stuff which went missing in the post and/or got damaged in transit, they paid up OK so I don't know what the problem might be with your claim. They do give a likely timescale on the form - it's not quick because they have to track through the (non)delivery from when you posted it to where it might have gone missing. Have you phoned them? I got better responses on the phone than via the website.
ZebUk - a salutory story - I would never have vital computer data in one place only, it's been said before, to sensible to back it up in a second place too!
