Well just been asked for ID in Sainsburys again!

This is the 2nd time in a month or so. I cannot believe they think I could be underage I will be 35 in November! The first time the cashier refused to serve me altogether so I insisted she called her supervisor who agreed with me that I did indeed look old enough to buy alcohol. Today, someone else served me but told me to bring ID next time as they had to be strict. I told her I did realise they had a rule that if you look under 25 you have to prove you are over 18 but did she seriously think I was 17?! She just told me I did look young ha ha! I possibly think I might not look 34 but come on, 17? Why are they so strict when its obvious to anyone with half a brain I'm not a teenager. I did have my wedding ring on, the car keys with me etc. Surely that shows I'm highly likely to be older than 17 lol.

I was asked my age to a wine bar once. I wouldn't have minded but I was 30 at the time. Maybe I should have taken it as a compliment :o)

I first came across this rubbish in USA three years ago when asked to show ID when buying a beer. I showed my UK Bus Pass but the irony was lost on her/

I love it when I get asked for ID. I got asked in the local co-op the other week when buying fags. Well sort of anyway.

It's petrol station with a co-op shop at the back. If you are in the shop part you can't buy cigs so you have to shout at someone behind the kiosk counter for a packet. They then pass the packet to you to take to a check out. So I'm walking around the shop for 10 minutes with a pack of cigs in my hand. I get to the checkout where the old guy looks at the cigs, then looks at me and asks my age. I say 27 and he asks my date of birth. I say 1983 and he says ok, just needed to check you're old enough. I wonder if I send my 12 year old niece in for a bottle of wine for me tonight and tell her to say she was born in 1983 if that would work too.

I never get asked anywhere else, wonder if Sainsburys are just extra tough? Sometimes I think common sense is needed. Every time I tell people they cant believe it either.

Cashiers can personally get fined, I thinks it's upto £1000 so just feel complimented and take your ID next time!

Lol Pinki. I got ID'd at a bar when I was 17. Being a cocky cow I thought if I gave him my provisional licence then he would just take that as me being old enough and he wouldnt check. He did. I felt so stupid when he told me to leave.

I bought a bottle of wine in the local shop one evening then as i was about to walk out i realised i had forgotten my mams smokes, when i went back and asked for them i was asked for id by the same woman who had just sold me a bottle of wine as i looked too young. Needless to say she was quite embarrassed when i pointed out that she didn't id me for the wine i had just bought.

The cashiers will be fined if caught selling to minors, so it is no surprise they are being extra cautious.

When I worked for an agency I was sent to Centre Parks and their tills won't let you ring up alcohol unless you press a button to say you have checked. If you are busy putting groceries through you don't always realise its stopped at the drink, and you have to do the whole lot again!

My 66 year old husband went to pay for an ironing board in Matalan and the girl on the checkout asked him to prove he was over 12!
