though you need to register, (not the same as a subscription). Just checked my own marriage in the index as i haven't looked at it before and ancestry have transcribed my Husband's surname incorrectly grrrrrrrrrrrr,

That is the 1916 - 2005 marriages, the 1837 - 1915 births marriages and death indices are also free

How do you access them? I can't see any links etc on my ancestry home page.

third tab along the top is search, drop that down and they are on the list, when you click on that option, to the right there is the breakdown to the individual index, click on it's link and the search box opens

The free search option is temporarily highlighted in white out of green

Still can't see any reference to GRO but I d have the search box. Nothing to indicate any records other than those available for my subscription. I don't know how long these have ben there as it is a while since I got down to some serious searching.

Yes that's true, especially as most are London records
