Volkswagen Beetle versus Golf

I drove a "new" Beetle recently and thoroughtly enjoyed it in respect to the quality of the steering, braking, clutch actuation, gearchange, etc. I understand that the Beetle is Golf based mechanically, so, does the Golf drive with the same qualities, year for year that is?

I think they're very different.
Worse thing about new beetle is the front/rear visibility. I found them a rubbery ride .. but pretty good for a rear-engined car.
Try a Golf Tdi 115 or 130 : )
blimey, they do look awful though.. are you after one of those fake gerberas for the dashboard, too?
It might be the same quality but as sara said, there so ugly!
