Is it true that if you live in the Channel Islands you don't have the right to work in the EU? This doesn't affect me, but it seems interesting if it's right,

Why's it surprising that people from a non EU country don't have the rights to work in the EU?

Oh sorry. I thought that, although not part of the EU, the Islands had a special agreement allowing them rights as a Crown dependancy. Obviously my question has offended you ChuckF

They have rights relating to the free movement of goods, but not to people.

If you're sending a parcel to the Channel Islands you have to fill out a customs declaration. If you're sending a parcel to anywhere in the EU you don't. Not relevant, but interesting.

Citizens of the Channel Islands and Isle of Man do not have the right of free movement and/or employment within the EU, (UK excepted). Strangely, Gibraltarians do! Though customs are involved when goods are imported or exported to and from the Channel Islands, the EU nevertheless allows them freedom of movement of goods. Again, strangely, they have freedom of movement and employment within the EU if they've been resident in the UK for five or more years. It's quite a mess.
