I am thinking of buying a Pashley bike. The creme de la creme of ladies' pushbikes, apparently. However, they don't come cheap - the one I'm looking at is over £600 (but it does have a rather appealing front wicker basket, sprung leather seat and leather handlebar grips).

Before I part with such a ridiculous amount of money, has anyone got a Pashley? Are they the Rolls Royce of bikes or are you just paying through the nose for a posh name and reputation?

Ta fluffster - I'm not very good at doing links. I want the racing green one, or one in cream with tan accessories.

How often will I use it? Errrm, to bike into town if it's not raining or windy. And to bike round to Tara-ra-bum-ti-eh's when I know I'm going to be drinking and don't want to drive. And only in late spring, summer, early autumn. Unless it's cold. So, not that often really....

carrust - that was a bit of a twattish thing to say.....
I looked at one and from memory it was very heavy and only suited to pottering around town, ideally a VERY flat town, I went for a more practical hybrid in the end.

I do like their retro styling though and would love one if I lived in Cambridge......
May I recommend these? I have one. They're OK for sedate cycling

I live in a very flat town eccles - and not that far from Cambridge. In fact, it was in Cambridge I found myself on Saturday which gave me the idea of getting one as I saw a rather lovely one, being ridden by a woman looking as though she'd walked straight from a Timotei advert. I thought "I could go for that".

I do like anything Dutch sandy.
s'not nice currust
In that case go for it Salla.

But do insure it, they are very attractive items...
carrust - a big apology is in order
Funny though. They also come with a sign saying Please nick me!
i wouldn't not unless i was going to bike to work and back as i do that every day it would be worth spending the cash to get something decent, if its only going to be now and then, personally i wouldn't

Mmm, good point eccles. I've already had one nicked out of my garage and have to put two industrial-sized locks on my new one. There's a lot of thieves in this town"!
