Contact Lens Assessment

I went for a Contact lens assessment about 1 year ago with Boots. She tested by eyes then she tried to put a lens in my eye. After a few failed attempts, and me feeling really embarrassed I left saying I would make another appointment. I even tried to put the lens in, as I used to wear lens in my teens and had no problems placing it in a taking it out, but even I could not place it in.

It may have been the fact that she was staring at me trying to put it in.

My question is is, if I make another appointment would they be required to place a lens in my eye again? I would much prefer for me to try this at home.

I'm pretty sure there are no legal requirements about this! why don't you simply ask them and explain your concerns.

I did ask them if I could take it home and for me to put in in myself, but they didn't allow.

why don't you go to another optician, then, muchlovex? You don't have to go back o Boots. I go to an independent optician (not one of the chains) and they seem to have much more time for people than the chains.

i go to tescos opticians besides being excellent there a lot less expensive than my other contact check ups at an independent one £17 compared to £36 and ive not found contacts cheaper anywhere than tescos either i'm on ciba "night and day"

erhas Boots feels they have an obligation to make sure the lenses fit. When they first arrange lenses they need to check that they fit and move around properly

When I first tried contact lenses in the late 70's (hard lenses), I fainted when the second one was put in.

When I woke he had taken them out, which must have been hard!

He said it was not unusual, and wouldn't happen again so he put them in again.

when I first tried mine (I couldn't get on with them in the end) the optician put them in with a thing like a tiny sink-plunger.
