The CD deck in my hi-fi stack has perished and I don't feel like replacing it with the official replacement (even if Sony still make it) which would be unnecessarily large and expensive.
Since you can buy CD players (with amplifier and speaker(s)) quite cheaply now I assumed that you could also buy CD decks - that is, just the disk player with audio output to feed into the hi-fi system. But I can't find such a thing. Anyone any ideas, please?
Re: EDDIE's comment above. There are CD players that are designed for domestic use and others designed for professional DJ use. I wouldn't consider them interchangeable.
If your hi-fi stack is a fairly good one,i would go for a CD player/recorder which will allow you to record as well as play for just a few pounds extra, and as chuck says, these would also have the standard RCA connectors as well as the optical and text recording facilities which you might find are very useful features.Reason i say this is that i would always be wary of buying anything electronic with moving parts, secondhand...but you might be lucky with something if it were solid state.
